Technology is growing and expanding at an incredible rate, new smartphones and tablets are being released every 3 to 6 months. Advances in producing smaller components, microchips, better screens in size and quality. Making personal technology elegant, useable, responsive, connective, collaborative, social, expectable and trending. Technology has become an expression of one’s trending status, becoming more of a fashion statement to have the latest savvy device.

Cloud computing is becoming more accessible both in connecting and creating a cloud service. Cloud computing allows software and virtual hardware over a network allowing users to access programs as network based services. These shared services can be accessed by web browser, thin client or mobile apps where data can be stored on a remote server. This service whether classed as software, platform or infrastructure works on a coordinated communicated system from a central server point worked by messaging between computer processers. Cloud computing is scalable and moveable and allows for sharing of resources regardless of location or time zone. This can lower costs for companies and individuals in reducing dedicated hardware and the cost of software for each computer. Think of Cloud computing like electricity grid instead of having the generator in your house or business you just plug into it for the service. With cloud computing acting as a single framework and new ways to reduce data storage this allows business for quicker setups easier maintain and manage day to day running of the business rather than large costs of running I.T. department.

Nanotechnology research is changing the way science can create the future for new materials and devices. Designing applications and technology is in the manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular scale. This allows fabrication of designs for electronics, biomaterials, device physics, molecular self-assembly, surface science, semiconductor physics, nanotubes, nanoparticles and nanorods. Dr. Zaki Ahmad gives a perfect glimpse of where this technology is taking us today,

With the expansion of Wi-Fi hot points and Bluetooth connectivity technology is allowing easier cross platform communications between devices and software. Accessing or sharing information is becoming effortless allowing the freedom of flow of information from user’s creative content and ideas. The boundaries of ideas can now become a reality; anything can become a reality due to the rapid development of technology. Technology advancement in software and hardware have led to 3D printing, RFID chips for tracking with data storage, GPS geolocation for positioning and tracking, Tattoo skin Technology, E-textiles or smart fabrics, thinner and smaller sized screens with retina display, from mobiles to smartphones and tablets now to the smartwatch. The possibilities are now endless in what the human race can bring into reality to use the technology to solve problems from a wide scope of toady’s barriers and challenges to everyday problems.

We have before us the resources to create the technology to better the planet and people’s lives for health, education, business and energy needs. Combining the technology with physics, chemistry and biology overcoming problems is only a matter of research and time to achieve an outcome that has potential and positive contributions to an advancing world and civilisation. The advancement we have in these technologies giving us smaller, economical components and circuits, transferable information and storage of data on a global scale in my view is taking us to a new era in wearable technology that is resilient flexible and smart (cognitive) to the user. The next 5 years advances will make the Google Glasses and smart watches viewed as the brick mobile phones from the early 90’s. Wearable gadgets will be the next big tech revolution and even to the point of wearable in the human body and connecting to the brain to use the mind to use thoughts to use the devices.
